I’m often reminded of just how lucky I am.
I have a supportive network of family and friends. I’ve been blessed with good health. I’m able to engage my body physically and mentally in whatever way I see fit.
But mostly, I choose to be lucky. It’s a mindset. As Harvey Dent says in The Dark Knight, “I make my own luck.” I have a supportive network of family and friends because I work hard at fostering those relationships. My health is intact because I make healthy lifestyle decisions. And I’m able to work my body and mind to my heart’s content because I train. And I think. A lot.
I understand not everyone can say the same. Some of us are dealt a shitty hand. But everyone can choose to adopt a “lucky” mindset. To see the glass as half full instead of half empty. It’s not always easy, trust me I’ve had my fair share of struggles, especially on the mental health front, but then again, nothing worth having comes easy.
Don’t shy away. Do the work. And reap the rewards.
