We’ve completely bastardized the way we do fitness. Like everything else we put a box around it. Crammed it into the scope of our strictly regulated lives. Just another item on the to-do list. One more thing between us and bedtime’s sweet embrace. And what has that given us?
Great article! I love the influx of walkers, runners and cyclists and outdoor exercisers that covid brought about. Getting fit and healthy has become so much more accessible and acceptable.
Yes! I reconfigured my guest house as a workout studio, complete with full weights, sprung floor, surround sound, ballet bar, etc. I workout daily and only have to take 10 steps to enter my "gym". There is so much wonderful online content and low-cost subscription options. I will never return to a gym. It is a bit isolating, so if someone were getting their social interaction at the gym, I can see why this might not appeal to them. But for me, it's been terrific for the last few years. I'm in the best shape ever.
